Supercharger question

Found a deal online to replace my 6-71 for an 8-71. Listing says for a GM. But what I am gathering, most all 6 and 8 blowers fit the same. Is that correct?

As far as I know the blower is a one size deal, it is the intake manifold part of it you swap out for different engines.

Ah now I understand, the mounting flange is the same but the holes for the 871 are bigger. But I've also heard it depends on who made the blower. Maybe someone with more experience can give a definitive answer to this question....

GM never made a 8-71 blower as it's an aftermarket thing.
As stated before it depends on the blower you have, it should mate up to your current intake manifold but it will be 1" longer and that may cause problems. The other issue is underdriving a larger blower versus overdriving a smaller blower which will deliver more power. This really depends on your motor setup and flow numbers on a bench.
Here is a good site with info:

Yes it will bolt on to the same intake , it is the case & rotor length that changes .
running a larger blower slower is more effective
