73 Challenger seat foam
« on: July 06, 2017 - 07:49:14 PM »
Has anyone found a provider for 73 challenger seat foam? My bottom cushion has me almost sitting on the floor. Another inch and i won't be able to see over the steering wheel. I want to keep the original seats, but i have yet to find anything for the 73.

Nope...not made.  I've watched enough TV shows to see it's not rocket science to build new foams from scratch,,
You would need a decent original to pattern after.

Legendary Auto Interiors sells the foam for the seats but you have to shape it. An electric turkey carving knife like you use at Thanksgiving comes in handy for carving the foam.

If you have to reshape the foam anyways...

then save some money and go to a you-pull-dit salvage yard and buy a seat with good foam and cannibablize it.

The foam in 73 and 74 was molded around the seat frame.  It wasn't a separate piece like the earlier years.  That's why 73 and 74 don't use a plastic seat back.  You'll need to add new foam yourself and shape it to fit.
