72-74 Cuda tail light conversion
« on: January 20, 2017 - 10:28:20 PM »
Hello everyone.  I would really like to get rid of the back up light pair on the tail on my cuda, I don't like the way the white back up's look.
So my question is if any of you have done this before and what do you use for back you lights and were did you mount them?

Thanks for the help guys, love this site.

I have never seen it done before, but i like your idea.

I think your best bet would be to find some back-up lights from a different model vehicle and mount them to the rear apron or widen the license plate spot or mount them next to the existing license plate like they do i new cars.

To see how it would look, you could photoshop your ideas to if you would like it.

I'd look for something long and thin to mount directly under the bumper.  Sometimes you can see the top lip of the valance under the bumper.  You could fill that area with LEDs.  If you don't care about making it blend in and not be seen, you could possibly mount some Mustang reverse lights/housings on the valance.

On a dodge stepside I made a roll pan and eliminated the reverse light.  I mounted a light under the truck as high as High as I could that it would still light up behind.  It had a black housing and you could not see it unless you looked under the truck or stood way back and looked for it.
