Water leak
« on: October 30, 2016 - 09:41:05 PM »
On my 73 challenger the bottom radiator hose leaks at the lower outlet. I have a new radiator and new hoses. I tighten the hose clamp as tight as I could. I tried repositioning the clamp, I even tried new clamps. I had the same problem with the old radiator. Any suggestions? Thanks

Could be the water pump is leaking out the pee hole, typically the water runs down the hose & drips at the radiator area...

Had that problem before caused by the coiled spring in the hose. A piece of wire spring would get pinched between the hose and the outside of the rad fitting causing the leak.

A little weatherstrip adhesive should seal the leak.  Worm style hose clamps can damage the hose if they are tightened too much.  Make sure you didn't damage the hose.

I did notice the pulleys have a rust stain. The hose I have on it doesn't have a spring. I'll try the weather strip glue. Thanks everyone for responding.
