Front Brake Hold off Valve Leaking
« on: November 05, 2016 - 02:33:06 PM »
Is anyone still having issues with replacement front brake hold off valves. I was looking at some old post, most 4 years and older, and I see there was issues back then with the quality of the valves. I know other people are having this issue also as Mopar Jack who has been helping me with the T/A is having the same issue with his Cuda.
Well I’m on my 3rd replacement valve and the only thing they have in common is they all leak out of the rubber boot at the bottom. The first one was purchased from Fine Lines in 2013. I installed it earlier this year and could not even bleed the brakes in the front as fluid was pouring out. Called Fine Lines and they do not sell the product any longer. All they could do for me was give me the name of someone to rebuild it. Well I was in a hurry and did the stupid thing, ordered another valve from Classic Industries. Installed it and got the brakes bled before it started leaking. Called them and they sent me another one. Same thing, did not leak for a couple of days then bingo leaker number 3. So, I am asking the question are other people still having the same issues as we are and what are they doing about it. I am thinking about having my original one rebuilt but can’t remember who Fine Line suggested.  Does anybody knows someone that’s reputable to rebuild it. I don’t want to get the same results again. Or is there a another vender out there that I could try? Jack and I are both using DOT 5 brake fluid. Do you think the silicon is an issue? Any input is welcome.

I got mine from Inline, and it leaded the first time around, as well as the second.  I gave up and just kept topping off my fluid (I use DOT5, so no paint issues).  I found a guy today at the Don Garlits show that sources the valve from a made in USA location.  Castle Classic Restorations - Bob Castle ccrs@wowway.com
