Best quiet mid size 16 inch curved blade fan
« on: October 30, 2016 - 08:20:27 PM »
Heres a free to everyone out there.  Never buy a straight blade fan.  My Spal 1610 cfm straight blade fan is so loud it draws all the attention, not my actual car.

I need a fan under 3 inches wide, 16 inches, it needs to be a puller and curved blades (heard curved = more quietness).

Who makes a quiet fan that pulls hard?

Spal wouldnt take the fan back so I am interested in someone else who stands behind their product.

Thanks!!!

Flex-a-lite is not a flex fan , this is a high quality fan for use with a clutch

Can you get a PWM fan controller and only make it run 100% when you need it?

Yup thats the exact one I have. With a fan clutch bolted up and cools nicely. Not very loud either

Hey guys, the fan is on a sensor, its just so loud.  The new radiator is big.  I have 3 inches of space in between the radiator and the belt pulley wheel.

Basically I am looking for a quiet electric fan that pulls hard.  Not sure if there is a 3 inch wide quiet fan out there.

Thanks,

Neil

It's a 18" 7,000 rpm steel race fan with a cupped ends. It doesn't need a shroud due to the ends. I use it behind a 26" 3 row brass Modine on a 440.  15" steel is for a 1968 A-body small block short radiator.

Hey guys.  Im the original poster.  I have a nice aluminum shroud, I live in a desert where it gets to be 110 most days.  The fan your suggesting is always on?  There is no clutch?  Sorry, little confused.  I was thinking of hooking up another electric fan to the shroud that is more quiet, you all seem to think I need to go an OEM type of fan.

I hope that made sense.  Maybe I can go back to an OEM fan.  I was told the OEM type rob a little power and I like the look of the aluminum shroud and lack of clutch fan.

Thanks again, Neil

On my 68 cuda I have both a 16 plastic flex and 16" pusher on the front of a 2 row 1" tube aluminum $110 Champion rad that fits the old holes.
The thermostat is in the pass. side smog plug and the relay next to it on the support. The "on" wire, is clipped to the run side of the ballast resistor for a circuit balance, also I can move it to the battery, if I want. You can't hear the fan over the engine anyway, if that's you worry
