I'm getting ready to install the front and back glass in my 1970 Cuda. what I need to know is do they take a rubber seal or can u use the silicone like the new ones Thanks Dirk

Originally they were installed with Bhytle tape I believe, however you can/should install them using modern methods (primer, then window adhesive).

You don't want to use silicone, you would need the proper urethane

There's more to it than meets the eye. As mentioned, you should use either butyl tape or a high modulus urethane. Then there's making sure the clips are all on and the right height and matching the adhesive accordingly so that you can get said mldgs on once the glass is in place. There were also rubber support blocks that went in the bottom channel to support the glass and prevent it's sliding down. Make sure you clean the glass properly and use a primer that must be carefully applied so as to not show up once the glass is installed- and so on. The going rate for a w/s installation around here is around $100; is it worth it? Especially if you happen to clip an edge and crack it? Your call. Good luck.

3M makes both the ribbon sealer and windo-weld urethane. Both should be available at your local auto parts stores
