You also need to take into account the camshaft power band. For example if the cam powerband is from 2500-6000 it won't be happy revving at 2000rpm's . Also have you even been in an e-body over 120mph?  After 120mph the front end starts to lift creating a very dangerous steering issue. It all " sounds good " on paper but in reality its dangerous without some aero mods.

@dodj: After a long time playin with the Tremec calculator we think, 3.55 is the right trans. 3.55 is available for Dana, but the gears are expensive with tax
           and shipping cost. also we have nobody with the right spreader to push that in/out.
           a friend of mine has 3.55 gears  for 8.75 with a Truetrac and a Aluminium Driveshaft ( Dannys) from his old cuda, so this set comes in and we look.
          The 2.76 gears from our new 8.75 become a second home in a 1964 polara, of a friend. So our Dana is still for sale....

@brads70: yes you have right with the aero mods, before we have a 69` WS23 Coronet with 440/727 an 2.76, over 140 mph it was very risky
               Hood comes up, very loud etc.

Fastest I've ever been in a car was in a crazy friend's 69 SuperBee.  At about 110-120 mph it felt like the wind was buffeting badly over the car making the ride pretty rough, but around 140 it smoothed out and felt like we were riding on air.  With all the lift on the car it pretty much was.  The car kept pulling until it pegged the speedo at 155+ (where the metal stop kept the arm from going any further around).  I knew if anything happened we'd be dead, ah the stupidity of youth!  So I definitely agree with others here that before I'd plan on going 150 in one of these old cars major suspension, steering, brakes, wheels and tire upgrades would be done first.

So I definitely agree with others here that before I'd plan on going 150 in one of these old cars major suspension, steering, brakes, wheels and tire upgrades would be done first. 

By "major upgrades" you mean Hotchkis TVS, disc brakes, 18" wheels and radial tires? These are the upgrades I'm planning to do on my Challenger and I hope that is enough to drive safely at higher speeds?

My charger gad 2.76 rear with .71 OD & would idle between 75_80 MPH it worked well with the lower 1st gears & Had endless top end .. not a bad combo for cruzing @ 120 MPH

The only other thing I'd strongly consider is a real 4-6 point rollbar, and race worthy 4 or 5 point harnesses up front.  I used to do a lot of walking around junkyards just looking at what I could find and it wasn't unusual to find cars like ours wrecked and looking like something just blown apart.  These old cars don't do well wiping out at speed, especially when they hit fixed objects.  I used to look at where the driver was supposed to be and more often as not there wasn't room for a living human any more.  I'm not trying to convince you not to run your car, I went through some of the same thought processes and decided I didn't want to have to modify my cars as much as I'd have to for such high speeds.  That said, I still think about turning the Barracuda into a track day / autocross car so I'll be taking my own advice about safety if I go that route.  Take care.

I've ran my 71 up to 100-110 and that was MORE than enough for me hahah.   These don't wreck well from what I hear.
