Valley pan install
« on: January 05, 2017 - 10:25:08 PM »
Ok,first big block build. I am installing edelbrock performerintake onto aluminum heads. I purchased a sheet metal valley pan and I just can't trust a bead of silicon that long down the sides of pan where it meets heads. Any re-assuring "it won't  leak " tips? I foresee an oil leak and a vacuum leak in my future.
This is than than just butts up against bottom of heads, still using normal paper gaskets for intake to head.

http://www.hughesengines.com/TechArticles/productinstructionsheets.php

They have a lot of other articles like that here as in anything read through it and decide what is right I don't know anything personally about their work .
Always do your research , comparing to the FSM is always a good idea.

The information and encouragement I get from the people on this site have made me unafraid to try to fix almost anything on the car.

I live about 5 miles from the Hughes shop. They have been in business for many years. Mostly, if not all, Mopar engine stuff. As in the financial world...past performance is not an indicator of the future. Always do your own research and make an educated decision!

Jamie -- with the metal valley pan gasket, just add the Fel-Pro "supplementary fiber gaskets" (4 pcs included in the set)... intended for aluminum mflds, as well as older engine rebuilds.
Autocross/road racers go in deeper... and come out harder!

See  MOPAR ACTION MAGAZINE, AUGUST 2006 ISSUE for featured article and details on my autocross T/A.

I only use the extra paper gaskets between the pan & heads to prevent oil leaks with all 4 it is real tough to get the intake on
