Alternative fixes for small oil pan leak in a slant 6

So for anyone following my saga ....LOL....working on my son's Slant 6 Volare....had a major leak at the back end when we got it back from the rebuilder.

We figured that was that.

Not.

Seems that we definitely now have a smallish leak at the front lower corner of the oil pan......we have video evidence......that we didnt have the first time.

Leak takes a while to show up at idle.....increases somewhat when idle is run higher. Collects on the kmember then drips down. Messy.

Although I know the RIGHT WAY would be to have the pan removed and redone a second time (shop already redid it and the main seal again to solve the bad leak at the back end), there is nothing to say that it would solve this one without creating another. And rinse and repeat.

I have seen some folks on the Slant 6 forum talk about having to do it 6 times before solving an oil pan or rear main leak.

I am usually more of a "do it right" sort of guy, but this is a royal PITA to keep addressing with the shop....If we can find a way to stop the leak that isn't so intensive, would rather go that route right now......

The description says it wicks, which would be ideal for a pan leak I think......wondering how best to clean the surface.

The leak isn't horrible, but its enough to make a mess underneath and my driveway looks like a dalmation...LOL . This plus the "common" head gasket oil leak and...well.....

Before anyone says it, I know that the shop SHOULD be responsible in "doing it right". But in my mind at this point if there is a simpler solution I would prefer to go that route.

Just want to be DONE with oil leaks so we can move on and address other stuff..... 

Oddly enough, my Cuda has an oil leak somewhere at the back end, and it gets worse when I use synthetic.....but I dont seem to worry about that as much..... "its an old car" I say........not so with the Volare.....feel like for a new rebuild I shouldnt have ANY leaks.

The slant is also seaping oil at the head/block seam, which I am told is also common...... sigh.

hey, its all worth a try. 

maybe use new pan bolts in the area, with lock washers.
that helped me on my valve covers

before using new bolts, make sure holes are cleaned out.

there are also washers that are oblong shaped, to spread more of
the bolt clamping force over the pan lip.

for leaks, I use cheap Walmart cat litter to soak up the oil

old bolts I've found have deteriorating threads that don't provide as much
clamping force.

You know, I wonder if one were to pull a vacuum with a shop vac, spray a little acetone to help clean the leak area, then follow it with some of that spray sealer.
