I'm looking for something decent on mpg and something that doesn't need much tunning once it's set up. Basically something reliable and I thought that's what Carter's are known for, but my rebuilt Carter needs to go.
You just described all the reasons to go EFI. If not go Proform, look at Mancini and Jegs for the best price.
EFI does cost more than a Proform. Intake pump, new tank, fuel lines, filter/regulator, AN fittings are about $800 alone. Realistically you can expect $2000ish to convert over to EFI, whereas a new Proform is $600-800. You can cut corners and do an inline pump, but its loud and has a shaky reliability. Look at Summit for the FITech set up, best one out there.
