How do I determine build date and von?

My Challenger is missing its fender tag. I have a mouse eaten build sheet that was found under the rear seat. The VIN on the build sheet matches car, the portion that has the build date and von are non existent. Is there any way to determine the build date or von?

Depends on what year it is. Starting in late 72, an MDH code was put on the door sticker. Otherwise no, there is no way to know. Someone with a large database might be able to give you a date range by looking at known cars.

if you can confirm the engine is matching numbers via the VIN stamp on the R/H side of the pan pad (if its there), if it does match, go to the front left side of the block (small block) there is a Engine Identification Number stamped there which will give you the engine build date, the second last set of 4 digits are the 10,000 year calender. Now, the engine could have been built weeks before the car, my engine was built on the 12th December and the car was built on the 18th December,

My SPD is A13 (Oct 13th 1969)  My engine block was cast 10/16 & assembled 10/27..... Actual build date & SPD often are not even close so using component dates isn't accurate....
