70 Cuda bumpers
« on: January 12, 2017 - 02:30:43 PM »
Hello everyone
I need a little help, I am looking for a place to purchase RAW un chromed 70 cuda bumpers. I am building a cuda and we are painting the bumpers to match the car, so theres no reason to pay for brand new chrome and then grind it off. I'm sure this has been done before. Anyone know where to get some? Does AMD sell them or Goodmark?
Thanks for the help.

I used my original chrome bumper and painted it 20 years ago no problems. Scuff it with 80-120 grit pad and clean with solvents to remove old chrome polish. The most important part is to cover the chrome with zinc chromate. I use rattle cans sold at boat repair shops. The zinc chromate will take a long time to cure, at least a month. Then you can prime and do any body work and top coat.

I had mine powder coated, I tried the paint thing but they scratched pretty easily, so they did an acid etching on them before powder coating. over two years ago and holding up great.
