cam ??

Hey iv got a question about installing my cam!! after the cam is in plce and im installing my sprockets how do i line them up i have a book that says to line up the marks but there are no marks on my sprokets!? i know i turn the #1 piston to tdc and align the oil gallys in the cam with the oil oils in the bearings but what else so i do i do not have a degreeing when i was told its not nessasary to degree the cam for a basic setup what else do i need to know??? also how do i install my destriputer to be somewhat close to being right i relize im gonna have to set my timeing i was just wondering how can i get it close!?? thanks !!

if there are no marks on your timing gears return the timing set !!
 there has to be two dots on the gears to line up
 once you have the cam lined up rotate the engine to TDC firing # 1 cylinder & set the dist into place , the rotor sii now pointed at #1 on the dist cap , you can wire in sequence from there , also line up the reluctor with the pick up & then advance the timing slightly it will start from there & you can adjust timing accordingly once it is runnign

ok i have the engine together!! i installed the distributer today the #1 pistion is at tbc do i turn the distrputer to the number one cylider on teh cap???

Make sure it is set to #1 firing , you can either move the oil pump drive so the rotor points to #1 or you can install #1 wire where the rotor is already pointing to

if i understand correctly the slot in the shaft can fit eithor way how do i know if im not 180 degrees off??

pull #1 plug & put your thumb over the hole & bump the engine over until pressure pushes yuor thumb out of the hole & you are on firing stroke your rotor is now pointed at # 1 firing , put the # 1 wire on that tower

if you havnt turned your engine over, and the dots are still lined up, the rotor should be pointing to the back.
