helpful over all but where does one find the correct spring for the kickdown linkage?

The spring in the video just holds the linkage to the rear. You can have someone step on the throttle and hold it to the floor making sure that the carb is in the full open position then push the kick down rod towards the fire wall until it stops and adjust the link.

 You need the spring installed to keep the linkage snug against the carb pin.

 You can get the spring from the restoration parts houses or you can get a universal spring kit from your local parts house and cut/bend to suit. This is a universal spring kit that I found on Autozones websight for reference. There are other kits too.
