It would stumble with the stock squirters in it so I put .043 in them. It probably too fat on the hit now but it made a huge difference. It runs the best with the pink springs. I can't remember what they are rated for and I think I have the 1449 rods with the .116 jets in it. I tried the 1444 rods but the car started feeling lazy.

If I were to try AVS carbs, what would you recommend? 750 or 800?

I doubt it would make a lot of difference either way you will have enough CFM at 1500 vs 1600

You may want to consider an AFR gauge to assist in carb tuning...Seat-of-the-pants tuning does work but it is expensive and very time consuming. Having AFR numbers in problem areas is incredibly helpful. Beautiful car BTW! :2thumbs:

An AFR gauge does speed up tuning but I find I get them just as close by plug reading and driveability. It sounds like the OP has a pretty good handle on it. I don't think you'll gain enough going to AVS to make it worthwhile, if you didn't have the AFB's then I would get the AVS. I was impressed the stock 1407 jetting was right on for my friends 572 with a Mod Man and similiar camshaft, we used 1-1 linkage though.

stock jetting was too lean on mine Sheldon. I use progressive linkage because 1:1 was too touchy for my liking. It was like a light switch with the pedal. It was either on or off. Thank you all for your input and comments. Greatly appreciated

:iagree: Posting AFR numbers helps determine rich/lean issues without actually being there IMO. The OP may possibly be at, or close to, the limits of the AFB's capability.

Uncle Barry, I've got so many questions about your setup! My 528 is all iron 10:1 with less cam and stock int and exh manifolds. Struggled all last year with it. Do you run a regulator between the pump and the carbs? Do you run a Carter mechanical pump? Dual 1407's here as well...

I do run a regulator. I also run a 140gph electric pump. The car runs really well and I think it will run better with more tuning. I pretty sure it will go a 10.50 or 60 when I get time to sort it out. But I'm thinking of putting a tunnel ram on it and having fun lol
