I'm sorry if this has been asked before but does anyone make a good quality header for a 74 smallblock challenger that installs from the engine compartment down rather than having to Jack the car way up and install them from underneath? I have a 74 challenger with a 360/727 auto that has a newer set of cheap summit headers that I had a nightmare of a time installing from underneath. I want to put a good set of headers on it but if I have to go thru all the hassle I did putting the cheap Summit ones on from underneath I will just stay with them. Thanks.

You may find a "shortie" header, but that's about it. Certainly no long-tubes.
Spending money on quality, better fitting, TTIs is beneficial for this application.

I don't think there's an easy way to put headers on these cars. I had to pull the centre link and idler arm as well as removing the 90' oil filter adapter and maybe the starter to get mine on; so don't feel too badly- we're all in the same boat!

I put TTI shortys on a 71 340 Challenger 4 speed, SUPER easy. If I remember right, to install on the passenger side had to undo and push the heater control valve off to the side, but the 90 degree oil filter was able to stay.
The drivers side nothing came off. Directions said I would have to remove starter and oil filter adaptor

I got the header pipe adapters, these got it real close for connecting to remaining dual exhaust. Then just bend some wire for length and bend angle and a muffler shop will make you a couple of final connection pieces for you just have them make a big end on both ends. Then I used these clamps

use some anti sieze on the threads.
If they ask what it's for tell them a Chevy truck, tell them a Challenger or Cuda price doubles.
