    Didn't quite know where else to post this, but here goes.

    '73 Chally with a 318, originally had a/c. no longer does. Some hack job pulled it cutting hoses, etc.  Somewhere along the lines the climate control (heater/ac control) acquired a short, and has burned out. The vents going to the floor (feet) area constantly pump out hot air. 

    Is there a way to make the hot air blowing stop(atleast for the time being)? Second is there a good way to find out where the short is, prior to obtaining another control unit and frying that one?

    Hi Rizzay - welcome to CC.com - if you mean the blower motor is staying on, you can pull the power connector for it and end the heated forced air that comes in until you get it fixed. If its fresh air that is being passed thru the box and is blowing hot you can do a couple of things. You can manually close the fresh air intake flapper. Its located at the far end on top of the AC box. Also you can deactivate your heater core by bypassing it or placing a manual water valve under the hood. A lot of heater-only car owners choose this simple method for controlling heat because the factory heater valve fails and is very expensive to replace.

    Do you have plans to restore the AC? There are a few guys on this board that are doing that and could probably give good advice there. I am upgrading all my underhood components to the more current R134 equipment but am not there yet.

    Thanks Mike,

    The blower doesn't appear to turn on for any situation, so it is just warm air blowing through the system. I am planning on eventually putting A/c back into the car, but haven't decided if I want to try original or aftermarket. That's a while off.  The manual valve inline for the heater core sounds great, because on the cold days you could just open it up.
