Stock Electronic Distributor Wiring Question

Hey guys,

I need to splice in my old stock electronic distributor to my new distributor and the wire colors on each are different.

The one on the old distributor are yellow and black and the ones on the new one are red and black.

1. On the old distributor what are the white and black wires for?
2. Can I splice the black to black and white to red?

Well I cannot see any pix but it is a simple in & out circuit  but it needs to be wired correctly  if you hook it up one way & it runs badly swap the wires

I called Pertronix and here is what I found out about the wiring .  The stock Mopar connector isn't used any longer

Here is where the Pertronix wires coming from the new distributor go:

Red wire - Goes to a hot ignition source
Black wire - Goes to the coil negative.

Sound about right?

Is one of the yellow or black the hot for the ignition?
