Exterior Door Handles...Cuda vs. Challenger
« on: August 05, 2009 - 12:44:15 PM »
Is there a true difference in the exterior door handles for '70 Cuda's and Challengers?  I have seen some places that advertise different ones for the 2 different cars and some that advertise the same for both.

I am in the market to replace mine and if there is a difference, I want to get the ones for my vehicle, which is a Cuda.   Any info. would be appreciated.

There is a difference. The challenger door handles have a slight curve to them to match the body contour of the door.

the Cuda handles are easy to get , the Mopar repro is the convex curved handle for the Cuda
the Chall ones are more difficult , Dales Cuda shop is the only source for them that i know of

I got my Challenger handles off ebay. Fredrick Dodge was the seller. www.frederickcjd.com. Unfortunately Roseville didn't have them at the time, may have tehm now.

I paid $190 including shipping to Toronto (I think they were about $155+ shippping). Smooth transaction.

Look great and exact match (to my eyes) for the old handles. I can get pics if you want.

Well, I have the repro Cuda handles on my Challenger since they didn't repro the Challenger handles 8 years ago. They fit OK, but don't really follow the contour of the door. Since you want Cuda handles, you should have no problems finding them.

I have dales cuda shop handles on my Challenger. I just bought them at Carlisle. They look great to me! I'm happy with them! The only difference is see between the originals is that the new ones have the logo DCS ( who cares? I don't) and they don't have the rubber stop for limiting how far back the handles retract. They just have the hidges set up to limit that. I'm OK with that too.

I bought from Dales 'Cuda Shop too after Dave from Roseville turned me on to them. I love them and they definitely have the countour. I wish they came with nuts for the mounting studs but overall I am more than please with the quality and cannot wait to see them on my car.

I'm updating this thread for future reference since all the pictures wont load.

I have a Cuda and got stuck with Challenger handles..

These are Challenger spec door handles..      they are Concave..

Barracuda would be opposite    Convex..

Lots of aftermarket handles are just flat..

Beware of places saying 1 fits both, because they dont without fitment issues..
Always ask for pictures so you dont get stuck like I did..
I didn't know any better and this was before I found out there is a difference..
