Test Equipment Tach Hookup with Electronic Ignition
« on: February 27, 2017 - 08:11:05 AM »
Is the connection point for a tach on a car with electronic ignition still the negative side of the coil?

Im wanting to hook up a tach to be used as test equipment for some carb. tuning and tried using the negative side of the coil but it didn't work.  I guess the tach could be bad but then thought you may have to connect to a different point with an electronic ignition?  Anybody know?

Stock tach with stock ECU goes to negative side of coil... I understand some aftermarket systems create issues with the OE tach.
