Tall E-body owners' interior setups
« on: March 06, 2017 - 09:39:44 PM »
To any tall Mopar owners on here (6 foot 2 and bigger), what have you done to make your ride more comfortable? I am 6 foot 7 and want to get an E-body car, but have heard that B-body cars are more roomy. Is it possible to find a comfortable setup or should I just give up and focus on B-body cars?

I'm 6'2" and the leg room is OK for me.  What bothers me is the upright seating position.  I'm used to leaning the seat back a little more then what the stock seat allows.  You can modify the "pin" that sets that angle but I haven't done it.  If you need more leg room, you can modify the seat tracks to mount them further back in the car.  If you haven't already done so, I'd sit in an E-body and see how they feel.  A six way drivers seat would probably help you in fine tuning the optimal position.

Okay, that's good to know. My understanding is that power seats sit higher than manual seats, so wouldn't I be better off with a manual seat and modified brackets? As for the E-body, unless there's someone on here in Wisconsin or Minnesota who's willing to let me sit in his ride, I doubt I'll get a chance. I'm the only one of my friends or family who's interested in Mopars.

6 way seat isn't power, its manual & it sits as low as a regular seats but allows you to tilt the seat rearward...

You can try sitting in first Gen Mustang or Camaro or Firebird. E body is wider and the rest about the same, interior room wise.

6'-2" here and no issues with leg room. The 6-way seat was a nice add as I can tilt it back a little.

I'm 6'4 and have to get in kind of side saddle but once I'm in it's ok.  One thing I did that helped was went to 13.5" steering wheel instead of the stock 15"

I'm 6'6". Rim blow steering wheel. Modified the seat tracks and LOTS of room with the back of the seat touching the rear seat!! I think I added 3 inches....

Big Mopar show every year in Farmington Minnesota.  There will be plenty of E-bodies there.  I'm sure you could find someone who will let you sit in one.

6'2" and have both E and B bodies.  I my challenger and cuda I swapped to a 13.5" steering wheel and the shorter turn signal lever.  Still a little cramped but not bad.  My Charger and Satellite still have more room though.

I didn't know about the Farmington Car Show, I'll have to check that out when it comes time for it.

What 6 way seat are you using in your car? Ive heard a few guys suggest Mercedes-Benz C-Class Buckets or Trans Am Buckets.

I'm 6-3 and put a 3/4 inch spacer on front bolts between frame and floor.  Raising the front of the seat helped a lot.  Also have seen 2 to 3" flat floor brackets on internet that would move entire seat back.

I have one of the OEM 6-way seat track pieces I added. They make repro's now.
