42RH upgrades/mods for better performance/reliablilty?

Hello All,

I was searching through the trans forum looking for the post concerning modifications and improvements to a 42RH (46RH, etc) transmission.  I could not find them.  Does anyone have a list of mods/improvements or links to the posts I could follow?  I am looking to do the 42RH install behind my 318 (with the junkyard jewel upgrade, under 400hp).  I would like to perform the mods/upgrades before putting the trans in. 

I also would like to rebuild it before it goes in, putting in new clutches and etc., since it will be coming out of a junkyard.  What kits for rebuild and improved (firmer) shifting is recommended?  I don't want a full race/ manual shift, just a nice firm/ reliable trans for street driving (sometimes getting on it).
