Hope it works out for you,  but rtv around intake runners will dissolve.  Gas eats rtv. Should only use it at each corner and the valley pan ends :2cents:

 :iagree:  I'd change it asap.

Kids are off for spring break next week which means I'm off the entire week.  Hoping to put some good time in on working on the 'Cuda but wanted everyone's opinion on how to approach this.  I don't have a lift or many power tools but I will move the car into my bigger garage and get it up on 6-ton jack stands to help with rolling in and out of the bottom.  I will be virtually alone in this adventure as all my friends will be working and won't have time to help.

Here's a short list of what needs to be done (in no particular order):
  • Install the following
    • Proportioning valve
    • Gas tank and straps
    • Fuel lines
    • Break lines
    • Starter
    • Headers
    • Transmission lines
    • Rear Shocks
    • Brake booster w/master cylinder
  • RTV header studs

All the installation parts are new except the Brake Booster w/ master cylinder.  There's some other things that need to be done but I know they can wait until after all this has been taken care of.

Couple of questions:
  • Should I use RTV on all the header studs or just certain ones?  :clueless:  What color RTV is the best for water/heat resistance?
  • What would YOU tackle first and in what order?

And if you're in the Orlando, FL area and looking to turn wrenches, drop me a PM!

Speaking from experience it would be much easier to install headers if you drop the engine out the bottom of the car on the K frame.  I realize you don't have  a lift, but ff you have a cherry picker you can use it to lift the front of the car over the top of the engine.  If you don't, it might be worth renting one for the day.  Installing headers while the engine is the car n is a difficult task at best, especially for the second bolts from the front of the engine on both sides.  That being said, don't install the brake power booster and master cylinder until AFTER you have the headers installed.  They take up a lot of room and are very difficult to work around if you decide to install the headers while the engine is in the car.  FYI, I didn't use RTV on any of my header bolts (I didn't use studs) and I have no leaks.  Good luck with whatever you decide.  :2thumbs:

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.
