wah! Vettes were my first love. had a 73 and a 54.
In 1970, at a Chevy dealership in Thousand Oaks Calif, I was looking at the Vettes.
they had a 61 fuelie for $1795, and a 1967 dark green 427 fastback for $4000.
He said to me, you don't want the 67. Hard to start, idles at 1500, and you have to use 103 Octane gas.
I went and opened the hood, and it had the air filter in the hood, with a screen over the carb!
I think it was one of twenty 67 L88s!!! wah, I went into the Navy 3 weeks later!
