O'Reilly 4 Lynx rear suspension upgrade to a Cuda
« on: March 06, 2017 - 03:01:58 PM »
I was looking at the 4 lynx rear suspension and wondered out loud about the rear clearance of the coil over mounts in relation to the road. They look much lower than the gear housing.  Does anyone have these and how much rear end clearance do you lose to the road ? Also, for anyone who has this, pros and cons ??? It's not cheap. Thanks

Whether they are lower or not, they are still higher than the rim, so they won't hit the road in the event of a flat tire or going over road irregularities.

pros - they look cool, you can easily adjust ride height, you can quickly change spring rates, they are lightweight compared to leafs.
cons - they are still just a spring and shock, they are expensive, their range of adjustment is typically not utilized.

Thanks !!! I guess I'm trying to figure out the best suspension upgrades while keeping a stock look which does not describe the 4 link system. Jeez there is sooo much to wade through .

Not worth the $$ IMO you can do as well for less $$ with leafs & double adjustable shocks

Easiest approach is to call Firm Feel or a Hotchkis distributor and order up a package of front and rear components that bolt in to stock locations that step up performance without significantly modifying the car. Both organizations know the best matching combinations of parts to achieve whatever goals you have.  Unless you are  in serious competition where the light weight and adjustability can make a difference, the coil over kits are are expensive overkill for a street set up.

The front suspension coil over kits are based on a Pinto.... Hardly an upgrade...  :2cents:
