Flywheel Bolts
« on: March 03, 2017 - 08:23:00 PM »
Is there anything special about Mopar flywheel bolts?

I found some Mr Gasket ones locally that fit great, perfect length and correct 7/16x20 threads.   but they only say ford and chevy on the package.   am I missing something?

How thick are the heads of the bolts? Can you post a picture? The correct bolts have a thin head. There isn't much room between the bolt head and the back of the block. A thick headed bolt will hit.

These  are thin,  I'd  say about  60% of a standard bolt head.

Here's an MP flywheel bolt to compare. 7/16"-20 X 7/8" Grade 8. Notice the serrations for the locking feature. Bolt head height about .287". Shank about .250" in length to thread, diameter .437". Black phosphate coated.

Should be fine , the length is critial as it can touch the rear of the block through the flywheel ,, the clutch disc can get near on the clutch where the heads is
