Horn wire?
« on: March 11, 2017 - 07:26:16 PM »
I am working on a '72 Challenger project. I have new underhood harnesses. There is a light brown wire in the same harness near the alternator wires.

Is this the horn wire? Its pretty long and looks to be the correct wire for the horns.

Any one have pics of the horn wiring? thanks!

The horn wire is typically in the forward lighting harness [headlights, front turn signals, etc.], not the engine harness.

The long brown wire is for the windshield washer pump

:iagree: it's the electric washer pump wire. If your car has a manual foot pump, the wire is just coiled up and held in place on the three pronged alternator wire holder.

Ok, I looked at the lighting harness and I see a single wire, I believe its black with a yellow stripe on it. Is this one for the horn? I also have next to it a plug with two wires going into it. Is that for a car with fog lights?

Thanks!

Ok, I dound the green wire with red stripe but they are no where near the horns. What inner fender is the forward lighting harness supposed to travel down? I have it on the drivers side right now and the wires are just to the drivers side of the hood latch. I am thinking if they were repositioned to go up the passenger side inner fender maybe they would reach the horns.

Harness on drivers side then runs along the front top of the radiator support...
Horns mount to  vertical support in the middle of the radiator.

The horns are on the PS inner fender in 70 and 71.  They are in front of the radiator in 72-74.
