8-3/4 are one of the easiest to set up, toughest part is getting the pinion depth right, (pulling the big bearing off, often multiple times, to change the shim). Don't worry too much about strength of the 8-3/4 (489 or 742) unless your doing 4 grand clutch drops, mine held up with no problems in 8 years of drag racing with an automatic and slicks @ 1.70 60' times, almost lifting the front wheels. And they're lighter than the Danas.
