rally gauge wiring

so since I've been informed that this is not needed any more... what gets connected in its place or to the opposing terminal?

If you have the solid state 5v limiter then nothing needs to be connected in the condensor's place. Some companies sell a solid state version with only 2 terminals, one for the 12v input and one for the regulated 5v output. I have one of those on my spare rallye cluster.

That capacitor assisted a bit in filtering the o/p of the regulator. If you have an original regulator, the capacitor helps. However, all original capacitors are, by now, garbage. Capacitors have a shelf life and it is a lot less than 40+ years.

I purchased one last week and installed it and works exactly like the original one but burns a lot less power. You can also put the Cap back on for appearances if you would like,  it has the extra tab but it does not connect to the internal circuit.

I don't mean to confuse the issue but I bought and RTE from Dave at Performance Graphics and he said DO  NOT USE THE CAPACITOR. He was very emphatic about it. My car had the original voltage limiter and cap. They still worked but I replaced them just for peace of mind.

I ordered mine last night...it was $60 shipped...not much money for piece of mine I thing....I have my dash out and rewiring the entire thing.......this was on the list..plus I am doing the clock upgrade and a new tach....really dont want to burn them up!!
