My  :2cents:
Do the Dana .... do it once do it right
The was a magazine test years back they took I think it was a Dart to the track ran 1/2 dozen passes with the 3.55 8 3/4  then swapped to a dana 3.54 & made 1/2 dozen more passes the times were virtually identical in the 1/4 but faster in 60 feet as the extra weight planted the tires a bit better .

The DrDiff ( Strange S60) is lighter than the original Dana, not sure exactly how much though.

I had it out for a gear change and I weighed it with my race car scales. Without brakes, with axles and caliper brackets, tru trac , oversize axle bearings, 4.10 gears ect... it was 204 Lbs.  I'd be curious to know what a stock E-body Dana weighs to compare? They advertise the S60 to be lighter than a stock Dana?

I tend to overbuild stuff as I don't mind spending the money once. If your going to run BFG T/A's street tires then your likely fine with the 8 3/4 if it's in great shape. Me/my thinking for my car was I built a motor with almost 2x the stock output, spent the money on a stout transmission, sticky 200 tread wear rubber, the rear end then I figured was the weakest link so I went with the Dana and sold the 3:55 SG 8 3/4 while it was still in one piece. I didn't want any headaches down the road as I had no idea how many miles were on the 8 3/4 ? Having everything new is no guarantee it won't break but at least I know what I have age wise.
You just need to decide how/what the car will be used . If it's just a cruiser with the occasional drag race then the 8 3/4 should do fine. Tire selection will be more of a deciding factor than anything else. :2cents:

:iagree: A DANA 60 does look BAD ASS under an E-body though! Your choice! :2thumbs:
