Brake lights came on, no body there!
« on: May 06, 2017 - 10:34:01 PM »
Ok.  I had to go out of town on Thursday afternoon.  The day before, I had started the Challenger and just let her run a bit.  Shut her down and that was that....or so I thought.   Got to my destination on Thursday afternoon/evening and the wife emails that the tail lights are on on the car. I thought I had left the toggle, switch on parking lights...not the case.  She checked the toggle, turn signals, pumped the brake pedal, lights would not go,off. Finally had the son take the battery cable loose.  That worked.  Got home today, put the cable back on, brake lights came back on.  So disconnect again.  Will see if pedal switch is stuck, but the lights were not on until a day after I ran her some!  Just came on and would not go off.   Got some investigating to do. :1zhelp:

During the daytime it can be hard to notice the brake lights on, probably misadjusted brake switch from last time you stopped the car.

On my 66 Charger about once every three months I have to reach up under and re-bend the bracket that holds the brake light switch.   It will get pushed back just from the return on the brake lever.   No big deal..    During the daytime it can be hard to notice the brake lights on...so...now in habit when i park the car to look at the amp gauge (yep mine still works...no bypass) and put on the brake.   Make sure amp moves to the left, then when I release the brake make sure that the amp gauge goes back to the right.   In other words make sure brake lights work and go off.
