ABS plastic core dash pad
« on: May 02, 2017 - 06:20:04 PM »
Hello all,

Just a quick question. are the ABS plastic core dash pads such as the one sold by classic industries worth buying? How is the quality and fit? Is it a good alternative for the price? Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks Jimmy

I'd pay the extra for a metal frame.
The plastic is flimsy and will warp

Junk... I recall one person defending the ABS frame but it came out that his car never was outside, it lives in a controlled climate... And a few years later it warped anyway....

I would go with the steel frame too. We all know how hot the inside a car gets when sitting in the sun with the windows up. Yup, it will warp the heck out of an ABS core. Save yourself from having to change it out later and go with a quality dash. A problematic dash sticks out like a sore thumb.  :2cents:

Well I guess that answers that. I am in southern Oklahoma and it definitely gets hot here. Who has the best prices on the steel framed pads?

Ultimate Rides seems to have been the source most have touted as the best down through the years.
Dave at Roseville has sold them so you might give him a shout to see the best way to acquire

I have the steel pads in stock just need to know what version you have/need

I personally would not use the ABS pad as it will sink over time in the heat

Do you do colored ones too? I'll be needing a burnt orange one eventually.

I heard too many concerns with the ABS, 110° days in Texas are not easy on anything, especially plastic. I bought a steel core from Dave.
