Hi Bruce,

I have no experience with those but from the pictures I have seen,I would imagine there to be hood clearance issues without a scoop. Oldschool might have that setup but not sure on that, maybe he'll chime in...  :dunno:

Granted this is an Abody, but with that set up, the carbs go through the hood.  This a Mr. Norms GSS Dart.

This pic is in a B-body and I think there would be hood clearance issues.  Notice the level that the air filters are at vs the hood line... also notice the big hood scoop... the intakes on those engines are tall!!!

I used to run 2-4's in line on my Challenger.  It had the magnum hood and I removed the brace under the buldge.  You would have to measure the area that the aircleaners fill and compare it to the hood you want to use.  I think it is possible with the magnum hood; but you may have to modify it.  The T/A hood may work as is.  I will say this.  When 2-4's open up heads turn.

Can't speak for the Challenger fitment, but I will say the cross-ram and carbs makes for a fairly tall set-up. There is a 426 Hemi Chally that comes to some of the local cruise-ins with the cross ram and two fours, but I haven't seen it in a while and I don't remember what hood he is running. I will keep an eye out for him at the next few cruises and see if I can determine what hood he is running.

With a stock R/T hood your gonna have clearance issues.

I'm running a T/A hood on my 1971 R/T Challenger with 440 Six Pack with tall (non stock) air cleaners and I have all kinds of extra room.

I'll bet a T/A hood would easily clear a cross ram equipped Hemi. :dunno:

I realize this post is very old, but I am inclined to respond if anyone is still interested in the topic.

It is my understanding in the late 70's, at the end of the production year, Dodge produced a handful of 426 hemis with a cross ram using a TA hood.
It's been about thirty five years or so since I heard about this and actually saw the photo of such a car.
I know I still have a copy of the photo somewhere.
The air cleaner assembly had a base plate that took a foam seal which married with the underside of the TA Hood.
I spent many years looking for additional documentation on such a car, but never got anywhere further then the photo.
I would very much like to know if anyone has ever heard of such a car in order to verify the validity of this phot.

Well you just posted a picture of a very rare air cleaner that does connect a Hemi to a T/A hood... However the carbs are inline not on opposite corners of the engine....

Oh.. I almost forgot.. Welcome to Cuda Challenger.com... Please continue to bring us interesting pictures..
