howdy group! I'm trying to replace my starter switch in the steering column.... I've come to the conclusion it's the culprit with my ignition issues, especially after the switch failing to engage the starter at all at times.. ...so I've got the steering wheel off, including the extension shroud using a steering wheel puller, I've got the turn signal switch loosened and to the side by gettng enough slack in the harness to do so. The lock ring/clip has been removed from the steering wheel shaft. I've got the 3 screws holding the base plate down removed but the plate doesn't wanna move. Is it pressed on or do I also need to remove the fourth screw that's holding the emergency flasher switch, which by the way doesn't wanna come loose. I will remove it if I have to, but would rather not it if doesn't need to be removed. this is the first time I've done such a procedure and am assuming that once I get the base plate removed, I'll see the ignition lock and starter switch? and does anyone know if a new ignition lock comes with the chrome bezels where the key inserts? I feel like I'm almost there, just need some reassurance and technical input to feel like I'm doing this right... lol. any and all help greatly appreciated! forgot to mention, this is a 73 challenger 318/auto. update: I got the base plate loose enough to peek in and see the starter switch, but the bearing doesn't seem to wanna slide off the shaft so easily. any suggestions at this point?
