Headlight bulb choice
« on: June 14, 2017 - 10:36:58 AM »
I have installed the headlight relay kit from crackedback and now I want to get the brightest (within reason) bulbs possible. I would like to maintain the stock look of the sealed beams if possible but would like a crisp white bulb. Right now I have Wagner oem type on all four bulbs. Thanks

You have a picture of a Cuda which uses two 7" bulbs but you mention  "Right now I have Wagner oem type on all four bulbs"  so I don't know what bulbs you need but find the best deal you can on a set of Hella H4 conversion lights & you'll have no regrets...

You are correct on the picture, I see where it could be confusing. I have both, the 73 Cuda and a 70 Challenger R/T 440/6. Headlight upgrade on the Challenger.

For the Challenger, I would recommend Hella Bifocal H1 for the lows, and Cibie parabolic H1 for the highs.  Near drop in. Let me find my post about them.

Thanks.
shawge, the ones you listed are unavailable on Amazon now. I like the look of your hi/low bulbs. They look almost stock.

Ok, the more I read the more confused I get. For a white light do I want halogen or xeon bulbs?

I got my setup from Daniel Stern. Andrew LaMorte sells the same items.

I found this searching around
Bifocal

Looks like Cibies are a bit harder to find on line. Using a Hella E-code H1 equivalent would be my next choice.

I'm using halogen H1s (Narva Range Power +50 H1) on all 4 lamps.

What is your definition of white?   Halogen looks to me, more "clear" as in no tinge. Xenons give off a bluish light.

Plus, aren't xenons for HID? Last I looked at lighting, the HIDs would require more fab work and have a fish-eye appearance.

I do not want the blueish tinge just a clear white. Thanks.

This is what I used. (copied johns cuda shop)  united pacific 31386. these use a 9007 bulb which are hi/low beam. I just connected the high beam for the inners. the bulb housing requires a mounting peg to be ground off as the inner and outer buckets are slightly different. I like the look. car not yet running so can't speak to the "whiteness".
