How far into 71 were "X" heads used?
« on: June 20, 2017 - 11:09:26 AM »
I'm trying to put a lot of my cuda back to factory original and read that they used X heads in '71 until they ran out, then switched to J heads. Mine was built Jan 21st '71. Are there any examples of X heads factory installed after that date?
Thanks
Mike

So even in '70 most 340's got J heads? Like on all non AAR's or something? This kind of backs up my thinking as I've got J heads on my donor block currently but a set of x heads set aside as well. The few articles I've read about x heads in 71 made me think, why not ask and see if they are correct?
Thanks
Mike

Yeah, most of the MOPAR websites and books claim that 71 was the first year for non T/A J heads, but in fact it was 71.
