My car is a 73 Challenger. I pulled and will be saving my stock AM/FM radio and replacing it with an aftermarket CD player. The player will drive two 6x9 two way at the back and two 1" tweeter at the front dash, no external amp. The unit is rated 25 watts only. I plan to run the switched power and connect to the original radio power connector (red and black wires I think). The battery wire that powers the clock of the player will be connect to the spare connection tagged "battery" at the fuse block. Anyone had done this see any problem of what I am doing? Is there a better way to do this?
Other wiring modifications I plan to do is join the black and red wires at the amp gauge together to bypass the amp gauge. I already have a volt meter. Later will also install the headlight kit from Crackedback that draw from the battery with relays. The back and red wires at the wire connector joining the steering column and the dash wiring harness were burned and previous owner crimped the wires together and bypassed the connector. I will be cutting wires if I need to pull the steering column in the future.
