How do you remove 1973 Cuda window sill trim?
« on: June 24, 2017 - 11:03:35 PM »
Im polishing up some tired trim. I got the trunk trim off which came off no problem and removing it was pretty straightforward. But Im at a loss on the window sill trims and don't want to damage them.
I do NOT need the roof trim/gutters off.
Thanks guys

Please explain what you are calling window sill trim...... Ie this on the windshield & back window? Or the side window trim?   I know you don't need the roof rail trim which probably means you also don't need the side window trim... But it is separate & none of it is called sill trim....

Ok I looked it up in latest Mopar Catalog with GG bridge and green charger on the cover, page 263 bottom right. Called "1970-74 Barracuda Door Top Edge Mouldings". This is in regards to doors and quarter panels.

Those are held on with plastic clips... If your careful and lucky you can pry they off the clips... Push the molding toward the side where you pry to move any looseness toward that side.... A wide plastic panel tool would be a good tool to pry with... The clips should be available if you not lucky enough...

Thanks for the reply. Could you please clarify the method used mentioned above?

Are you going to strip these. I don't think you can polish these like the windshield trim. These seem to be a ***** to put back on. Technically you just lay it on the clip and push them on. The repo trim and clips I've used are practically impossible to put back on!

I polished them to better than new. They are beautiful. It took time and patience but I did it.
Now the short quarter panel trim I didn't break the clips but the door trim, I broke ALL the clips. I haven't tried to reinstall them yet.
