weird 4wheeler ride
« on: July 10, 2005 - 03:35:49 AM »
Tonight, I went for a wheeler ride, up bald mountain. Usually, the trail is pretty busy, but not tonight. Did not see one person. When I got to the top of the mountain, I had a strange feeling that I needed to turn back, instead of going further. I came back down a real steep part, sliding in the mud, and I saw some tracks going off the trail, and over a hill (steep hill). Not being able to stop, I slid to the bottom, and turned around, and headed back up to investigate. I stopped, wedged my wheeler in some bushes to keep it from sliding back down th ehill, and got off to see what happend. There was an upside down wheeler, with someone under it!
I shut my 4 wheeler off, and heard him saying hey! dude! could ya help me? I slid down the bank on my rear, and got a look, at a guy, under his 4wheeler. He looked pretty comfortable, but couldnt get out from under it. I flipped the 4wheeler over, and he got up, said thanks, said he was a bit sore, and we got his wheeler started. He had to ride it down a creek to get it back to the trail, and by the time I climbed my wet butt back to my wheeler, he was gone. I turned around and hauled butt, all the way back to the parking lot, no one was there, and there was no tracks of his coming out of the trail. I tore off to the gas station, and came back after re fueling, backtracked to his place of origon, and he never got back on the trail. I tried to run up the creek he should have came down, but my 4wheeler is a 2 wheel drive, with flat hard pack tires, I couldnt make it, so I walked, to his tracks coming into the creek. They never left. It appears he just kept following the creek down, inseat of getting on the trail when he got to it (the creek crosses the trail) the creek eventually comes to the little sue river, wich you cant go down, and there is no trail coming from the creek after the one he should have taken.
So, here I am, at home, wondering if this guy was retarded, orknew something I didnt. Hope to god it is the latter, or he will need another rescue. or have a long @$$ walk!
