I have State Farms classic car insurance.  The rates have always been very reasonable, but I am concerned about the stated versus agreed value issue.  I've been over this concern with my agent and he said he checked with the adjusters and in the case of a total loss, I get the value I'm insured at.  But I still have concerns.
Fortunately I've never had to make a claim.
When I got my T/A back from the restoration shop last year, I was in a quandary because I'd have to get an appraiser out to my house in order to value it with SF for its worth.
I shopped around among the better known collector car insurance companies like Hagerty, Grundy and Heacock, but I also talked to an agent here in IL who specializes in collector car insurance, Rally Insurance.  They found me a policy for the T/A with 100K agreed value for $385/year.  This was about half what Hagerty quoted.  Hagerty has a great reputation, and I like their magazine and swag they often are giving away at shows and events, but sorry, I can't justify paying double to insure with them!
My insurance is with Infinity.

I'll probably be moving my other 2 Challengers over to them in spring when they come out of hibernation.

Hagerty. I have had to use it and was very pleased with the customer service and their timeliness. I'll get my 'Cuda appraised once done and continue with them.

I've been with American Collectors Insurance.  It went up $2 this year for the first time in 6 years.

I'll have to double check on agreed value vs appraised value.  I had to send photos initially, but no appraisal.  I'm limited to 2500 miles a year, and it must be garaged. Unless at an event.  $155/year for $32k value.

I'm noticing a few people seem to have there cars under insured? Might want to rethink that? Rick no way you could replace your car for 32K.  :grinno:

Finally got to my renewal on paper.....they have increased my value to $27,000.......but for $5.00 less I can let it go to $26,000.....I thought I had $25,000....Now for the breakdown.........the actual insurance is $185.65 and the Haggerty Plus adds $35.00 which includes 15 miles rollback service, first $50 covered on Roadside assistance, unlimited number of emergency events per year, the Haggerty magazine, membership in the Historic Vehicle Association and Access to the Ask Haggerty service where you can call or email for car related questions....All that for this.........

I forgot to mention that as I progress with my restoration I have raised the "agreed upon" value with American Collectors a few times and it was done over the phone.  They just asked me a few questions and the agreed upon value was raised.  I'm now up to $45K.   Like spamtank stated, I initially had to send in pictures of the car, but have had to nothing since except verbally justify the increase in value as I progress with the restoration.

I have AC also, just got my renewal; $210 for only $25k.......
You got a great deal, wonder why mine is so much higher for less coverage.

Humm, good question.  We're going to be out of town until Thursday.  But if you want to PM me your email address,  I can send you the specifics, or a scan, of the coverage.  You might be carrying something I'm not.

Thank you all for the input. I sounds like I have a lot of calling around to do. American classics sounds pretty good. And thanks for the tip on agreed vs stated value. You all have some incredible cars.

Here in Canada, there is a #19 endorsement that you can purchase with your policy regarding a stated value. A standard collision policy would have to take into account the market value of a LKQ (like kind & quality) comparison vehicle, so if you've provided your company/broker with good photos of your car and the work done to it, you should be reasonably covered. Where the defecation hits the oscillation is when someone wants to insure his (I'll make up a #) $30,000 car for $50,000 and the market shows it to really to be a $30k car. You also don't really want to hear from the adjuster, you want to hear from the underwriter and if you need the reassurance, speak/email to them. Good luck
