I have a Cumminins  472 Hemi and was wondering if anyone knows how to decode these cast numbers that are on the block? Thanks

72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

What do you mean by Decode? It's a casting number not a code..... Coding would imply the number changes to indicate allot of variables, that casting number was used to include virtually all the Hemi castings, the -M shows it's newer but the main number was used staring in 64 thought the end of production.... It won't tell you bore size or any other useful information....
