I don't think BFG ever had 275-50-15... check again your size?
Autocross/road racers go in deeper... and come out harder!

See  MOPAR ACTION MAGAZINE, AUGUST 2006 ISSUE for featured article and details on my autocross T/A.

I spoke with a BFG tire dealer at the Chrysler Mopar Nats at Carlisle about the tire separation.
He said BFG had an issue with the Radial T/A and have fixed the problem.
We have had BFG tire separation since the 80' .

I think this question was asked someplace else. BFG 275/50 is discontinued. Nitto 555R 275/50 is spot on and MT SR 26x10x15 is the nearest size in a dedicated street tire.

All d.o.t. drag radials have met side load specs required to be certified for street use. Run them at normal to higher street type pressure and they are fine. Especially in a 50 series, there is very little sidewall for deflection anyway. It is the thin walled bias ply slicks that are designed to wrinkle up tha tyou would never want to run up front. Some d.o.t. radial slicks even come in stiff sidewall construction as well for those higher power cars that really punish the tires.  FWIW, even regular, dedicated street radials are only 2 ply sidewalls, just like a drag radial.

If it worries you, then use the MT SR is 26x10x15. I think it is only fractionally narrower than a 275/50.

BFG TA 275/50R15; 25.8 tall, 10.8 wide. MT SR 26x10x15; 26" tall, 10.0 wide.  So .2 taller or about an 1/8" increase in ride height. .8 narrower or about 3/8" narrower per side.

I've got this exact tire on the front of my Challenger mounted on an 8" wide rim.  The MT specs for size are spot on. As a late model designed tire, it actually has a carcass that is several decades newer than the BFG (it was originally designed as an 18" replacement tire that they sized down to 15" diameters) and comes with a considerably softer tread compound.
