Factory Air Conditioning Condenser Seal
« on: August 17, 2017 - 06:01:27 PM »
I have a 1973 Dodge Challenger 340 with factory air conditioner.  I went to get it charged with R12 and they were saying I am missing the seal to isolate the air through the condenser.  There should be some shroud that goes on the sides and even the top.

I have never seen anything like this before???  Does anyone know what the guy at the shop is referring to?  They can use a foam seal to direct the air but I'm trying to maintain the originality and keep it functional.

You should have had him explain it to you more in detail.
Ask questions.
Does he mean the radiator shroud......?  ?
Do  you have a shroud.
What does that have to do with cooling...............?

I have a 71 and had a 73 and there never was anything on the condenser. Just a fan shroud. My corvette had seals on top and sides.

Thanks for your replies.  I do have a radiator shroud but he meant sealing the condenser as there are gaps on the sides and top of the radiator.

Yup, understood... But unless you want to make your own, seals for the condenser don't exist....  Wouldn't be hard to do & should slightly improve the A/C's effectiveness...
