Bit The Bullet
« on: December 10, 2020 - 08:04:06 AM »
Well, I did it.  I sold my '73 Challenger (white with black stripes and the 6-Pak EFI setup) and bought this 2020 Challenger Hellcat:

Have only driven it home from the dealer but, wow, what a phenomenal car.  Unfortunately the weather is about to turn here so I'm not sure how much I'll be able to drive it until March.

Congratulations on the new purchase, it looks awesome! Have you seen Doug DeMuros video he did on the Hellcat? He almost lost control of the car while testing it because of weather conditions, so it is a wise choice to wait.

It is ridiculously fast.  What's really scary is not just how fast it is but how effortless the performance is.  The older cars were more loud and harsh so you knew you were getting up there but you could be doing 100 in this (or so I'd imagine) and not even realize it.  I was on the highway and guessed I was doing 60 and I was doing 85.  I will probably never use half the features this car has but I'm perfectly fine with that.  It's not a daily driver so it's going to get pampered.

Congratulations you will love it. Nothing like 700+ HP and a warranty..

I know exactly what you mean about the power, I got pulled over in my 01 Viper doing 75 in a 55 once, when the officer asked me if I knew how fast I was going I said "no clue", he said 75.. I said, "well this car idles at about 80 so I am not surprised". He ended up giving me a warning. Also, my 10 Challenger RT cruises easily at 100+ and feels like 60.

Congrats on what appears to be a hell of a score! Don't let your right foot write cheques that your licence can't cash. LOL

Probably not. I'd get more enjoyment out of driving around town, honestly. Or washing and waxing it.
