Hood spring

Recently finished restoring my hood latch, spring, and safety spring in a brownish original (I hope) color.  While installing them today I noticed that I'm apparently missing a piece that fastens the hood spring to the latch assembly.  Can somebody please tell or show me what attaches to the pictured bolt and then I assume the spring to hold the spring in place.

My 73 just had a screw holding the engine side of the spring down with an ear of the spring thru the front hole.
Did not see anything noted in the FSM or the Mitchell parts manual so not sure if my 73 is same as your 70 or even is correct.

Thanks 73440.  I don't suppose you have a picture?  I'm having a hard time visualizing what you are describing.

This is on a 73 Barracuda, I can not vouch for if the same for all years or even if this is correct with the screw at the engine side.

I am not positive but I don't thing the screw is correct, I believe the spring is held merely by 2 tabs which sandwich the bottom coil of the spring. I just installed my on my 73 Cuda and I had to bend a tab up to remove the spring and bend it back after installing it. I am very sure mine didn't have any screw, of course that doesn't mean it was/is right either. I will look at my 70 Challenger and see what it has.

Yeah the screw isn't correct, but I've seen it before, if the tab breaks either your replace the plate or you find a way to mount the spring... One semi hidden screw is a pretty easy, effective repair....
