Goody, hows your oil filter access?  Did you do a 45 degree or what did you do?  My filter is nearly an 1/8 from the K, I will need to lift them engine to change the oil.   What are you doing with your heads?  I bought a 2012 truck 5.7 and just ordered Arrignton spring kit to put in a 270 cam.  I will have the heads done and do all the swap at once.

HP2, I like those numbers, may be the final selling point once I decide to do this.

Oil filter access is tight but the STP S2 filter I can remove with no issues. I need to find a higher quality filter of the same size. I have a 45° adapter.

I had to change out MDS lifters.

So question, if you where to do it again, would you go the same route?

Yes. Reasons:
It's new and ready to bolt on - doesnt need painting, straightening, or strengthening.
The K opens everything up and looks better - somewhat subjective.
It's powder coated and round stock so extremely easy to clean & no passages for oil to sit in.... how many times have you spilled oil on the stock K, wiped it, and thought "I got it all" only to come back 2 minutes later with oil leaking out of a crevice?
It's more ridgid than stock - based on QA1's report but looking at it, believe them.
It has tow hooks - thought this wasn't a big deal but have used them several times now - sure you can hook onto the stock frame or other parts of the car, but a dedicated hook sure is convenient.

Only downsides I can think of:
Not original - doesn't matter at all to me.
Cost - I bought it from Mancini when they had their 10% off code so it was ~500 bucks... I then sold the stock K and recouped a little money there.

As for the clearance issues with a new hemi.... I have a hemi in my charger and knowing where the filter is on it, I can see where you might gain with the QA1 K-member. For my big block - I gained nothing to solve clearance issues as I had none, but I can say it makes working on things from below easier - anything on the lower front engine, the starter, those hard to reach header bolts, plugs, etc.

Ultimately I chose it because I looked into the other aftermarket systems, XV was the only one that I wanted but it was downright expensive. The others all have sacrifices - either putting stress on the shock towers where it wasn't designed, mounting the steering/rack in an awkward position & shimming it to barely acceptable specs, reducing turned radius, and overall not having 'bang for your buck'. I went with QA1/borgeson/hotchkis route because it got me 90% there for considerably less $$$.

Killer - Thank you, very nice response and some very valid points. Funny, I was just thinking of tow points, nice the QA1 has them, that will be a bonus. And I agree, way less expensive, sounds like a winter project here.

Stumbled across this pic on my phone and figured I would add it here. The picture was taken after the K install but prior to the steering components... it shows how much room there is with the QA1 K, particularly the lower passenger side for oil changes on those gen III Hemi swaps...

70 cuda.  6.4L Hemi.  QA1 K.  I am working on modifying my stock oil pan to add length to the back of the sump,  in effect adding a mid sump capacity to the stock pan, and decreasing the sump depth to mimic the Milodon pan.  This will keep the stock pans rear buttresses commecting the lower bellhousing to the center of the engine block.

Waskier, I like the oil pan concept, a lot cheaper than a Milodon setup as well - Will a truck pan work better?

 - I just purchased a QA1 yesterday from Summit for a very "fair" price.  Now just need to install.

Thanks

That's a great look.
What G3 Hemi and what pan is that?
Wondering if the factory pan on a 6.1 will work with my QA1 K

I spent some time talking to this guy at Carlisle. His stuff looked nice/well designed?

GTS:

Looks a lot like the Control Freak suspension:

Which is a direct copy of the RMS suspension, but using steel tube (CF purchased an RMS unit and later did the copy):
