cuda sail panel install

looking for some help on how a interior rear side sail panel is to be attached on a 71 cuda
from what I can tell the headliner gets pulled and stretched down to the first teeth metal strip
then the sail panel attaches over it via door panel like clip right in the middle of sail panel, however the replacement panels have no such clip attachment, rather two pieces of double sided tape and Velcro. assume this is to be put where the original clip was. also what does each edge of this panel fabric do, the top folded over the back of sail panel and glued? the bottom stretched onto lower teeth strip then front edge glue into jam, and rear pulled and attached to those teeth in the window trim channel. also does the lower edge of sail panel end up behind the lower teeth strip or over the top?

any direction as to how, they were, and should be attached, along with pics would be great.

Culp71, I just finished a 1973 Cuda. I don't know if there is much difference so you should check this article in Hemmings magazine www.hemmings.com/magazine/mus/2010/01/Heads-Up/2626671.html.

What you ask is pretty much correct as we did it.  The top edge of the board folds over and glued.  The other three stretch to the rear window and door.  The bottom of the board set within the toothed bracket and the fabric stretches to the teeth.  The tricky part was getting the upper lip to curve with the body.  We used multiple pieces of velcro.  I also installed the coat hook which will set the board into place.  The fabric stretching into the door window is then covered by the metal trim.  The top edge of the B pillar is pretty much level with the top side of the window trim.

I also recommend you dry fit your plastic quarter panel and package tray.  I had a small area at the back window and bottom of the b pillar panel that exposed a bit of paint.  I ended up covering the package tray with vinyl for a clean transition between the B pillar, tray, quarter panel and seat.  The rear window trim may have covered the void but I was not certain and I don't have the glass in it yet.

Word of caution with the coat hook.  It is a pretty good sized hole indented into the board.  We eyeballed where to poke the hole but I think that I could have adjusted it a little more, and for good reason. This was the first screw I tried to expose from under installed headliner.  I slipped and made a slightly bigger hole than needed. I now know how to do it better and least risk with a razor blade.  Good luck.  I'd love to see the pictures.
