Four Link
« on: July 06, 2016 - 01:31:59 AM »
Is there a 4 link setup for the rear of my Cuda, that loses the leaf springs, and saves a lot of weight??
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

All 4 links are lighter and use no leafsprings

I have seen on one of the car shows there is a 4 link setup that is specific to e bodies. A few pieces bolt in and a few of the other pieces the brackets weld in.

Don't recall the brand though.

Fist there are different 4 links , there are some street versions with limited / no adjustablility
Then there are true 4 links / back 1/2 the car & redo the rear frame rails & now you have a fully adjustable 4 link .
Then the issue now you have 250 settings & you need to dial in the one that works on any given day with different conditions . Have fun with that !
I have found a simple ladder bar / floater assy works far more consistantly , for less weight lose the leafs & go to rear coil over with double adjustable shocks . I had no issues pulling the front wheels with street tires on the street with a ladder / floater assy using leaf springs .

I am just reading this now, and wonder if you have any specifics on what "ladder bar/floater assy" you have.  You probably did it yourself but if there is an after market set up you could recommend I'd love to know.
