lots of questions
« on: July 14, 2005 - 08:33:50 AM »

One of the items on our list of fixits is the steering "play" how much is acceptable?  Should it be super tight like todays cars, or more play is natural, or personal taste ?

also, could there be a reason for a really noticible negative camber?  (ie, better traction at track?) or should I just expect to have to replace or fix tie rods and such?

possibly a tie between the two? loose steering and messed up front end?

30 year old steering boxes are worn , there is an adjuster screw on the top of the steering box to reduce play often adjusting this will help, make sure it is adjusted withe the wheels pointed straight forward  , it still will not be as tight as a rack & pinion though  , the other option is to use a Firm Feel steering box
The negative camber either could be bad control arm bushings or incorrect adjustment , poor wheel alighment will affect the tightness of the steering to some degree
